Protestant churches use Jesus baby scan in anti-abortion ad
Abortion & Life

From The Drum:

Executives from the Church of England, Methodist, United Reformed and Baptist Churches, represented by ChurchAds.net, have plunged Protestant churches into the abortion debate with their new campaign featuring imagery of an unborn child.

The poster campaign will feature on billboards over Christmas and reads: “He’s on His way. Christmas starts with Christ.”

This ad seems to be about the meaning of Christmas and not abortion, even though it is good for the pro-life cause as well.

Why is it that liberals accuse the Church of being anti-scientific but then decry the use of science in the abortion debate? Why aren't liberals running ads showing an ultrasound with the caption "It's a blob of protoplasm"? Perhaps that would be self-defeating on their part...

I don't think all liberals "decry the use of science" when it comes to abortion. it's in their interest to mention any myths about things like abortion in relation to cancer or the instances of fatality in women who choose to abort regardless of the law, which will occur (my fear with young teenagess) regardless of whether or not it's legal. btw, i don't think it's fair to generalize liberals. it's like saying all christians believe anyone who doesn't believe in their God is going to Hell.

There are many groups that have significant medical, scientific, and statistical understanding that state that the abortion - breast cancer link does exist, including OB/GYNs and the Breast Cancer Prevention Institute. What I find troubling is that abortion groups have done everything possible to stifle discussion of this link.

Dr. Bernard Nathanson talks about how NARAL and the other abortion groups inflated the number of women dying from illegal abortion claiming that it was 10,000 per year when it was 200-250 per year. Also, deaths from abortion are severely under-reported and some believe that more women in the U.S. die from legal abortion now than died from illegal abortion before Roe v. Wade. (Actual numbers, not percentages.)

"There are many groups that have significant medical, scientific, and statistical understanding that state that the abortion - breast cancer link does exist"

Many groups with the exception of the American Cancer Institute, which finds that the current evidence shown to link cancer and abortions is inconclusive. Lets not forget a person can get cancer from a microwave or a cell phone, but the proof of cancer's link to abortions is still not solid. Unless the same people who are protesting against abortion with the excuse that it causes cancer will also be anti electronics, then they shouldn't use it as a defence for taking away a woman's rights to do what she wants with her body the first three months of term.

As for your comment prior Roe vs. Wade, of course more women are shown to have health risks now that it's become a common practice. I don't see why people would tell the government they were ill from doing something illegal prior to R v W. If millions of women were doing it before the concept was legal (not uncommon in families who want boys) they arn't going to turn themselves in after developing health issues. Now that it's common, those same number of women can freely ask for medical assistance in aborting an unwanted fetus.

you know another common practice related to pregnancy that's known to be frequently deadly for women? bringing the baby to term.

women all over the world will die today due to complications from childbirth, so my advise to you, patronp, is this: if you're concerned about the many health risk associated with pregnancy, then don't get pregnant. avoid it like the plague! it's risky anyway you choose to handle it.

(ahhh... another problem handily solved in a plainspoken way that should satisfy all concerned.)
